An Adaptiiv On Demand customer has been using our FDA cleared 3D printing service to create patient-specific TrueFlex bolus.
Recently we worked with our customer’s Lead Medical Physicist on creating a silicone bolus used to treat the nose. Read below as they comment on their clinic’s experience using Adaptiiv On Demand.
We are very happy with the precise fit of the TrueFlex bolus and how easy it is to reproduce a complicated patient set up for each treatment fraction!

Placing a bolus that needs to fit inside the nostrils can be a particularly challenging set up and placement. The flexibility of TrueFlex allows for the manipulation of placement inside crevasses and around areas of extreme curvature. Our customer used the following process to fit TrueFlex to one of their patients:
“The TrueFlex silicone bolus fit extremely well once we figured out the best way to place it. Initially we were letting the patient place the bolus. But after a CT scan to check placement, the patient was not getting it into their nose far enough and it wasn’t sitting flush against their cheeks.
We flipped the bolus inside out so the two nostril parts are exposed. Then, we pushed the right nostril in until it was flush and did the same with the left. We chose to do the right nostril first since that is the one that has tumor growing into it. We then flipped the rest of the bolus over the patient’s nose. This made everything fit perfectly!
We are very happy with the precise fit of the TrueFlex bolus and how easy it was to reproduce a complicated patient set up for each treatment fraction.”
