Nova Scotia Health: Design and Fabrication of Custom, 3D Printed HDR Surface Brachytherapy Applicators
This patient case demonstrates the clinical application of Adaptiiv’s technology used in the design and fabrication of a patient-specific HDR surface brachytherapy applicator for the treatment of bilateral shin skin cancer. This case shows how Adaptiiv software can be effectively used to quickly create HDR surface brachytherapy applicators that provide excellent fit to patient contours and allow for simple daily set up.
The patient’s initial CT simulation was used for applicator design, with the targets wired by the physician.
The structures were imported into Adaptiiv software and used the automatic tunneling feature to design catheter trajectories.
